Rather than being a therapist or a coach, I’m best understood as a Guide, a Facilitator, a Fellow Explorer on the path. I sincerely believe in the idea of “Work with people, not problems.”
Sometimes though, it may feel like our Inner Critics are causing us plenty of problems. I can help you find a pathway through to living a more balanced life, in integration with your Inner Parts.
And just what are “Inner Parts”? We have a lot of chatter going on within us. Sometimes there are full on committees of internal “sub-personalities” running around inside. Without a doubt, some of these Parts will express themselves as Inner Critics of all types. And everyone knows those voices. Whether they speak directly, or subtly act out, whether they use “I” or “You” language, whether they are consciously noted or not, our Inner Critics are present and accounted for. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t (and I going to bet you haven’t either) met a single human that has never experienced an Inner Critic of some kind. They serve all kinds of functions for us but they do it in ways that don’t really feel so great.
We will explore and identify your various Inner Parts, especially the Inner Critics, and using a variety of creative methods such as character creation and artistic engagement, we will learn more about them and begin to work more deeply with them. Telling them to just “go away” or “shut up” rarely works. We have to help them and ourselves transform and I can help guide you to do that.
- Yes, I will give you homework.
- Yes, I will hold your toes to the fire when needed.
- Yes, I will occasionally tell you what to do.
- Yes, I will ask you hard questions.
- Yes, I will point out difficult things.
- And, yes, I will be your cheerleader, your guide, and fellow journey companion along this path.
Below you will find some different ways in which we may engage in this process.
